Flight of Fancy As Butterflies Flutter By

Caardvarks is asking us to think winged things in the latest challenge, Flight of Fancy.

I used a foil bird ornament that came in a kit from The Story Of My Life and a beautiful quote from Emily Dickinson: "Hope is the thing with feathers that
perches in the soul and sings the tune without words and never stops at all."
Background paper is by College Press.

Meanwhile DCM's latest challenge also has wings, but this time it's butterflies. "Butterfly, Flutterby" asks us to put butterflies on a card. I used a gatefold card and chalked the front with soft blues. I used Twelve by 12 paper and a tag, and stamped butterflies using an Artifacts stamp onto vellum in silver. I coloured the butterflies with Gelly Roll pens and sprinkled on some fine glitter.

Trees, Triangles and Quotes

The longer evenings are a boon for the crafter, particularly when there are so many delicious challenges to complete!

I combined two challenges to take part for the first time in Wednesday Stamper and Arty Girlz. Wednesday Stamper has a theme of trees, and Arty Girlz a theme of triangles.

I created a triangle shaped card and attached torn paper randomly, then stamped the four trees using my new Stampin' Up A Tree For All Seasons stamp, coloured with pens and edged with ink. I also stamped into triangle shaped pieces of shrink plastic - can you see them? I brushed the whole thing with PVA diluted with water and Irridescent Medium, then added some dried flowers and leaves from Hobbycraft.
Meanwhile the Scrummy Stash Cafe Blog is looking for quotes or sayings. I found an ideal phrase in K&Co's vellum quotes, "The earth laughs in flowers" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I cut boldly into a new sheet of College Press Grayson Hall collection paper and added some grand adhesions from K&Co, finishing off with burgundy organza ribbon.
