Favourite designer paper

Gingersnap Creations has a challenge to use scraps of our favourite designer paper. This card uses one of my favourites from BasicGrey. It's nice to think about Spring!

Birds

Simply Less is More has a one layer challenge - Birds. I used a pale blue card blank, applied dark blue acrylic paint to the bottom of a bottle to use as an interesting shape, and then painted inside it with a blue Twinkling H2O to get an interesting shimmer. I then used a bird stamp from Cavallini, masking it to use two inks in different colours.

Chasing Cars

An intriguing challenge at Daring Cardmakers: interpret "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol. I'm sure the meaning of a song is different to everyone but to me the line "forget the world" reminds me of carefree summer holidays, where you literally do forget the world for a fortnight.

My card is multi-layered. The first layer has acrylic and textured paint; the second alcohol inks, with stamping of seashells from the Cavallini set. 

Gingersnap Creations: Sunshine

The Once in a Blue Moon challenge at Gingersnap Creations gives you free rein to choose one of the many previous challenges.

I chose GC63, Sunshine, which is very timely with the lovely heat wave we are enjoying. The card features three of my favourite techniques: stamping, glass paints and alcohol inks.

Feelin' Blue is the challenge at Sunday Postcard Art. My postcard doesn't reflect the melancholy aspect of being blue, but the colour itself, which is one of my favourites.

Lots to do: Friendship

Here's my entry for the Friendship challenge at Lots to Do.  The photo shows my mum on the right and her friend Maureen when they were 18, posing on Plymouth Hoe. Mum's two-piece was knitted and became so heavy in the water, the first and only time she wore it, that she had to be dragged out.

I made some colourful fish with glass paints on acetate and used stamps by Cavallini.

Fashion & Acetate

A great challenge over at Sunday Postcard Art, fashion. Here is my postcard.
Meanwhile over at Lots to Do, the challenge is acetate. I created an aperture shaker card with acetate, using glass paints. Stamps by Cavallini.

Vintage bathing beauties

What better photo to use than a picture of your mum with her best friend, both aged 18, on Plymouth Hoe?

"Vintage bathing beauties" is the theme at Sunday Postcard Art. My mum (on the right) knitted that bikini herself and recalled that in the sea, it became so heavy she had to be virtually dragged out of the water.

Daring Cardmakers new challenge is Birds.

I used stamps by Cavallini and Blade Rubber Stamps; a scallop punch from Stampin' Up!, paper by BasicGrey and some ribbon.

In bluebell fields

I'm trying out a new feature from Blogger in post dating a couple of postings. Yes folks I'm on holiday, and currently sunning myself in Greece, but here's something I prepared earlier!
A few weeks ago J took me to a bluebell wood, amazingly very close to where we live. He had stumbled across it when he was out running. It was the most breathtaking sight, and deserted except for an elderly couple who said they'd been to see it every year for 20 years!
Scrapping it turned out to be a nightmare. I wanted to keep the layout fairly simple to showcase the bluebells. I decided to use some new Heidi Swapp ghost letters for the first time, and used Glimmer Mist to spray "Bluebell" down the left hand side. Unfortunately some of the letters bled, some were not clear at all, so I painted over the top which then looked like something a five year old would do. So I had to stick some paper over the top, and this time I resorted to using stickers (by Twelveby12). The stamps used are by Cavallini with blue ink by Stampin' Up. White felt by Queen & Co. The paper is Periphery by BasicGrey.
